HELPFUL HINTS ON HOW TO SAVE MONEY, ENERGY AND HELP OUR ENVIRONMENT
1) Keep Cold Air out of your home amd recycle at the same time. Roll fabric that matches your decor around old socks made into bundles. Tie the ends with ribbons and place in front of a drafty door.
2) Install Energy-Saving Light bulbs. A decorating tip: Change out old lamp shades with a cleaner lighter shade to add more light to a room.
3) Insulate your windows. Add acrylic energy panels to your existing windows to help reduce your energy bill and check windows and doors for loose caulking that can let in air.
4) Warm up a room. Give curtains a seasonal update. Add warmer colors and be sure curtains have an inner lining and extend to the floor to block drafts, especially in older homes that do not have energy efficient windows.
5) Keep common household items handy to double as cleaners for everyday spills and messes. These cleaners are baking soda, white vinegar, cornstarch, baby powder, toothpaste and Borax.
6) Pay special attention to your water bill. Fix leaky faucets in your house immediately. Making these repairs could save gallons of water and money off your bill. Be sure to clean the head of your faucets too, the dirt that collects on the filter is going into your glass, Yuck!!
7) If the room your water heater is in is uninsulated, install a insulated jacket. This could save energy.
8) Reduce paper usage by using cloth napkins instead of paper towels and paper napkins. Use newspaper to clean windows instead of paper towels and reuse the clean side of printer paper when you are printing from your home computer.
